Royal Wedding
With less than a week to go the world is buzzing with the impending Royal Wedding details. And we do mean details; every item from the cake to the photographers at the street parties! Two billion television viewers are expected to watch the wedding live on TV while many thousands more will line the streets of London to catch a glimpse of the royal celebration.
The Procession
Perhaps the most anticipated aspect of the wedding is the procession. This will be the chance for the world to view the bride and groom in all their glory. For those in or near London who want to see the procession live, the royals have marked out the route. If you want to know what you’re seeing on the telly, the procession passes quite a few landmarks. To follow is the route the procession will take according to the royal wedding website:
Catherine Middleton and Prince William will travel separately to the wedding service using State Cars from the Royal Mews. At the end of the service at Westminster Abbey the royal couple will travel by carriage along the processional route to Buckingham Palace. In the event of severely wet weather, the couple will travel in The Glass Coach. The carriage procession will include five horse drawn carriages. The first carriage will be the 1902 State Landau or Glass Coach carrying the bride and the groom. The second and third carriages will carry the best man, maid of honour and bridesmaids. The fourth carriage will have the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh and the fifth carriage will have the parents of the bride and groom.
The Wedding Procession Route
The Processional route from Westminster Abbey to Buckingham Palace runs from the Abbey to Parliament Square and then on to Whitehall, Horse Guards Parade before The Mall and on to Buckingham Palace. Once at the palace William and Kate will enjoy a number of receptions and of course all the wedding fun which will include drinking, dancing, food and cake, just as it does for us commoners.
