If you’re looking for a perfect, relaxing holiday that will be great fun for the whole family then choose a UK log cabin holiday. Staying in a log cabin or lodge is a great choice for families, because in each cabin you’ll find all of the same mod cons you’ll find at home. The lodges come fully equipped with luxurious furnishing and fixtures, often including state of the art TVs, modern kitchen appliances and, of course, central heating. This means that if you need to heat a baby’s bottle, stick to a toddler’s bedtime routine, or need somewhere you can make a fussy child’s favourite lunch, you’ll have all of the facilities you need at your fingertips.

If you are travelling as a large family, a log cabin breaks may also work out to be more affordable and cost-effective per person than booking hotel rooms for everyone: and means you can relax together and spend your downtime enjoying the facilities of the cabin as a group.

Tips for Enjoying Your Family Log Cabin Holiday

Don’t forget to pack your own beach towels. Although most of our cabins come fully equipped with bed linens, duvets, towels and fluffy bathrobes, you may still need beach towels to explore some of the truly beautiful coastline our country has to offer. Many of our log cabins are situated close to scenic beaches and walking across the sand and paddling in the shallow sea is the perfect way to spend an idyllic family day of your holiday: you could even use the kitchen in your log cabin to pack a delicious picnic so you don’t even need to leave the beach for a lunch break!

Ensure you carry a small amount of cash, as well as your usual bank cards. According to money.co.uk, carrying local currency or pre-payable cash cards is the best way to pay when you are on holiday. This rule of thumb is just as relevant if you are travelling in the UK, as well as if you are travelling abroad. It means that you don’t risk having your cards lost or stolen, and (if you are visiting from a different country) it means you will avoid having to pay any extra charges for using your credit or debit cards abroad. It is particularly important to carry some cash in more rural parts of the country, such as remote areas of Norfolk or the Lake District, because cash machines are harder to find and many small independent shops and pubs don’t have card readers. And you’ll have some very disappointed children if you don’t have enough money on you to buy lollies from the ice cream van!

Remember to bring some of your children’s favourite toys and a generous supply of family-friendly DVDs. One of the best things about choosing a log cabin rather than a hotel room is that you can make yourself right at home, and your children can relax and enjoying playing in the cabin, just as they would at home. And because of the mod cons fitted in each cabin, you could also sit down and relax in the evenings, watching a family DVD: Don’t forget to bring some popcorn too, for a true movie-at-home experience!

Family Friendly Activities

So what other family friendly activities could you enjoy when you choose to take British log cabin breaks? Well, log cabin breaks are the perfect opportunity to enjoy a nature walk: all of the cabins available are set in scenic environments. You could all put on your walking boots and head outside to enjoy the fresh air. Take your kids nature spotting (count who can spot the most squirrels or find the most pine cones) or gather up some of nature’s craft activities such as leaves and sticks: you could then use them to make picture souvenirs of your trip when you return home. The latest statistics show that only a third of boys and a quarter of girls meet the recommendation for at least 60 minutes of physical activity a day. Get your kids off to a healthy start by encouraging them to start walking on your family holiday!

If you prefer something a little more luxurious then why not book a cabin that comes equipped with its own Jacuzzi? It’s the perfect way to relax and unwind after a long day of playing and having fun!
