Horse Riding in Wales

Wales is world renowned for its log cabin destinations set amid rolling hills and majestic scenery and there isn’t a better way to experience the landscape than on horseback setting off from your log cabin destination in the Welsh countryside. The Black Mountains are a group of hills spread across parts of southeast Wales, and extending across the national border into England. They are the easternmost of the four ranges of hills that comprise the Brecon Beacons National Park, a popular tourist destination. The Black Mountains are often confused with the Black Mountain which is in turn confused with the peak within the Black Mountains called; you guessed it, Black Mountain. The Black Mountains may be roughly defined as those hills contained within a triangle bordered by the towns of Abergavenny in the southeast, Hay-on-Wye in the north and the village of Llangors in the west. Another ‘gateway’ town to the Black Mountains is Talgarth.

There are perhaps more log cabin destinations in this part of Wales than anywhere else in the UK and the selection will meet every budget and lifestyle. Tourist operators also offer broad diversity in the types of horse riding options which include day treks and longer rides (of up to a month or more) over every kind of terrain. Horse riding trails abound throughout Wales and many operators are also familiar with pristine rides over untrodden countryside which, combined with your log cabin home away from home, will make you feel nostalgia for days gone by when all the world was pure and the pace was slow.
