Wildlife and Nature Holidays

Trips to nature are fun, inexpensive and healthy options for the whole family. The Northern Highlands of Scotland offer the perfect opportunity for adventure and discovery; a brilliant wildlife and nature holiday for the family, couples or friends. The famous Loch Ness, lakes, amazing bush tramps, fishing, horse riding and mountain biking are just a few of the activities and sights available to visitors to the Northern Highlands. Wildlife and nature holidays have a way of bringing people together. Sharing rudimentary cooking and travelling responsibilities offer excellent opportunities to learn new skills and you will never see an area of the world better, more intimately, than you will tramping, paddling, or riding a bicycle through it.

Although the Northern Highlands are easily accessible from anywhere in Europe the area itself is sparsely populated leaving the wilderness pristine and a true ‘get away from it all’ location for visitors. Inverness is considered the capital city for the Northern Highland region. The cultural and Gaelic history of the area and of Inverness itself is truly fascinating. From the time that Shakespeare’s Macbeth built his stronghold in 1040 to the 1560s when Mary Queen of Scots had the Governor of Inverness castle executed (he wouldn’t let her into the Burgh), this part of Scotland has an intriguing richness of history.

The tourist experience is greatly enhanced by Scotland’s rich culture but it isn’t necessary. For the outdoors personality the region has plenty to offer in natural wonder, activity and discovery. While there are hotel and motel type accommodations available in the city centres the Scottish Highland experience is greatly enhanced and authenticated with a stay in a log cabin style accommodation. The region is rich in this type of opportunity as well. Away from the city lights and rat race of modern life, the Northern Highlands allow visitors to stay in simple or luxurious cabins alongside the most beautiful natural wonders of Scotland.

Have you visited the Northern Highlands or had a log cabin holiday in these parts. If so, why not let us know about your experience?
