Loch Lomond Lodges

The largest loch/lake in Britain, Loch Lomond, is as profound in beauty as it is inspirational for its astonishing natural splendour. Loch Lomond lodges are the favoured accommodation for visitors to the area who want to slip into the scenery and lifestyle of the Lochs without being garish or loud. Anyone who has visited Loch Lomond will understand that sentiment.

Many visitors staying in Loch Lomond lodges are water lovers keen to kayak, canoe, wind-surf, jet ski, speedboat and cruise the famous Scottish lochs. The National Park Authority attempts to balance the interests of land-based tourists and loch users, with environmentally sensitive areas subject to a strictly enforced 10 km per hour speed limit, but the rest of the loch is open to speeds of up to 90 km per hour. There are 22 larger lochs, with numerous smaller lochs and lochans and about 50 rivers and large burns.

To the north, Loch Lomond is narrow and deep, with surrounding mountain peaks rising majestically from the shoreline. There are 20 Munros (mountains above 3,000ft) in the Park and the highest is Ben More at 1,174m. Aside the Loch lays the little village of Ardlui, tucked beneath the peaks. This is where the River Falloch flows from its highland source into the north of the loch. The beautiful and remote hamlet of Inversnaid is accessible by a single road to the east or by boat from Inveruglas.

Ferries and pleasure cruises operate throughout the season providing access and tours of these pristine land and waterscapes. Special trips may also be available soon on the Maid of the Loch which was the last paddle steamer built in Britain in 1953. It is currently available for viewing only.

Loch Lomond lodges are available in the more remote parts of the lochs and mountains as well as the equally gorgeous areas nearer to civilization. Tourists and nature lovers alike will find rest and relaxation come easy at Loch Lomond.
